Ikea Inspired Creativity

This weekend I have decided to concentrate on being a bit creative! It has been a while, so I thought I'd start with some experimentation- primark plimsolls + Ikea Loppstarr Fabric pens!  I decided to freestyle the design on the shoes simply because all of my preparation sketches of interesting things weren't looking particularly interesting! Plus, I figured the application to the shoe would change the way I was able to draw anyway. So, hearts, swirls, stars and dots it was...

Results?

Overall, I was quite impressed with the vibrancy of the pens, and since they are so affordable, i definitely think this is something to invest in keeping the kids entertained of a rainy afternoon- all for under a fiver!  One thing I would bear in mind if I was to try this again was the pens bled into each other quite badly- perhaps allow more time to dry in between. I have still to wash the shoes to seal the dye onto them, so fingers crossed!!!! Next challenge- rocking my new footwear in public!

DIY Rockabilly Shoes

So, this week I have been rocking the rockabilly look, and I decided that I needed a nice pair of flats for day wear. I didn't want to spend much , but I wanted something a tad different. So, I went to Primark, got a cheap pair of ballerina pumps and tried my hand at a (small) bit of customising.

I had decided that my first pair of customised shoes weren't going to be over the top, so figured adding a bespoke button to the front would be enough- thus ensues finding the perfect button.  Luckily, I had seen some skull and crossbones buttons in Remnant King's that I liked, so my search was over before it began.

It took me literally 5 minutes to sew the buttons onto the front of my shoes- I decided to keep the original bows on the front as an added design- perhaps a nice ribbon accent would be nice?

Also, if you wanted to have an interchangeable look, you could use badges, or affix safety pins to the back of your buttons- the possibilities are endless!

Wear with capri pants or skinny jeans, your favourite t-shirt and a headscarf? Perfect Day-wear!

Comic Book Shoes

I just thought I'd post a little something to show what I'v been doing with myself lately! There are crafty plans going ahead, and I will hopefully be launching the "Kitsch Creative" shop shortly. Yaay!

One of the services I will be offering is a shoe customisation service whereby I can decoupage your favourite comic/ magazine onto a pair of shoes for you. They will then be sealed to be water resistant, then shipped back to you. The fine details are still being ironed out, but Im sure it will work!

As a little taster of this service, I will show you a sneak peek at my mum's. (ignore the quality of the photo, I will be arranging a photo shoot soon for all of the items for the shop area.  I made them for Christmas, as she is a complete Judge Dredd fan, so it is only fitting that she gets a pair of Judge Dredd shoes!

Feel free to contact me for a quote if you can't wait for the shop area to open up! :)
