First, i drew out the ipod lightly with pencil, as a guide, then i used a fineliner (try one that is quick dry, or your work be easily ruined) then i let loose with the dots. In some cases, less is more, and shading can be difficult. Try a few small scale objects before you try a larger one. As a guide, this took me approximately 6 hours or so? Its pretty big in scale though.
