Closeup Botanics

I recently had another wee trip to Glasgow's Botanic Gardens. I was doubling up a little date with collecting some nice imagery, and I thought I'd share some of my findings with you. I am looking to be doing some photo edits or posters with the photos I've collected, so watch this space for some nice graphic art inspired from my trip. In the meantime, heres a few of my favourite shots.

 I've always been fascinated by the venus flytraps. I think this looks like a horror scene!

Speaking of Horror films, how CREEPY is this? It looks like a bony hand trying to reach for you!

This reminds me of the film Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, when the kids are out in the grass. Quite creepy, but beautiful as well. I really like this shot.

I love the contrast between the hard spikes and the softer background in this photo.

I think this would be very interesting to draw. It kind of resembles a simple Celtic pattern? 

 I adore the variety of depth of colour in this photo on the flowers. Absolutely gorgeous, and contrasts really nicely against the green background. I also love the focus on the flowers.

 I like the closeup detail in this photo, as you can see the specks of pollen. The bold purple stands out well in comparison to the background as well, and the difference in focus makes for a strong image.

 I'll finish with this dainty image. The gentle pink and bold fuschia combine very nicely, an example of nature's colour palette mixing at work here I think!

It's photos like these that make me glad of my macro settings on my camera.

 Im using a Fujifilm Finepix S, 12 MP and 15x optical zoom.

On the lower scale of the camera market, but as you can see, can produce some stunning results.
